What is Sky Cinema?
Sky Cinema is a movie rental and purchase service that is
accessible via a Sky+ HD set top box and the Sky Go mobile
application. It gives you access to box office hits and new movies
12 months before they are available on most online subscription
services, as well as hundreds of old favourites and family
classics.
Movies are available to watch on demand at any time, and there
is a new and exclusive Sky Cinema Disney channel that gives you
access to all the latest Disney releases as well as all time
classics.
Sky Cinema has around 5 million subscribers in the UK and
Ireland, and is a great option for movie fans who want access
to a massive amount of flicks for a fixed fee. Its main benefit
over rival services is that it gains early access to the latest
blockbuster hits, often a year before Netflix or LOVEFiLM. It is
available on a pay as you go basis via NOW TV, or as part of a
subscription TV service.
How do I get access to Sky Cinema?
Access 11 Sky Cinema channels
If you take the Sky Family Bundle, Sky Cinema and the HD pack,
you get access to 11 dedicated Sky Cinema channels, with weekly
premieres and hundreds of movies. Sky Cinema is also available as a
boost on TalkTalk TV for an additional £15/month, or on Virgin
Media from £14.50/month.
Sky Cinema Premiere has the biggest Hollywood
blockbusters a year before any other movie subscription service,
while Sky Cinema Greats brings you the biggest
movies of all time and Sky Cinema Select showcases
original, provocative and ground-breaking movies from around the
world. Families will appreciate access to Sky Cinema
Disney and Sky Cinema Family, where
you'll find hundreds of Disney and childrens' classics to enjoy
together. There are channels to suit all tastes, from Sci
Fi & Horror to Drama &
Romance.
Access hundreds of Movies On Demand
Movies On Demand allows you to access hundreds of titles,
everything from brand new blockbusters to old favourites - there
are themed box sets to help you discover new favourites too.
You'll also benefit from access to TV box sets and some of
the UK's biggest catch up TV services, with content from BBC
iPlayer, ITV Player and 4oD available at the touch of a
button.
If you take out Sky Cinema as part of a Sky subscription, you
get access to Movies On Demand via your Sky+ HD
box and broadband connection, or the Sky Go app, which is free for
subscribers to download on a tablet or smartphone. You can ask for
Sky Cinema to be added to your package from the moment you are
connected, and receive 1 month's free trial of the service. Because
this is a boost, and not part of your regular contract, you are
free to add and subtract Sky Cinema from your package.
If you opt for a NOW TV Sky Cinema Month Pass,
you get access to Movies On Demand on a pay as you go subscription
basis, which you can cancel at any time. The Sky Cinema Month Pass
costs £8.99 a month, and is available with the NOW TV box, on its
own, or as a combined bundle with Sky broadband.
If you are already a Sky TV customer, you can add Sky Cinema to
your existing package completely free for the first month, and then
£16/month on top of your regular Sky bill thereafter. This gives
you access to all 11 channels and every one of the 100's of movies
on offer on demand at any time.
Sky Cinema on the go
As well as through your Sky+HD box, Sky Cinema customers can
catch the latest films on a variety of mobile devices with Sky Go,
including iPads, iPhones, laptops, desktop computers and Android
powered devices. Just load up the app and choose the movie you want
to stream directly to your device. Sky Go Extra customers can even
download their favourite movies for later viewing, allowing them to
watch at any time without the need for a Wi-Fi connection.
