EE helps over 5000 people get connected at Techy Tea Party

Despite ongoing improvements in technology, there are currently six million people in the UK who have never been online, and 10 million who are lacking basic online skills. EE is doing its part to bring down that number by hosting Techy Tea parties across the country, allowing people of all ages to ask any tech questions they might have in a more informal setting.

The network partnered with Age UK to spread the word about the event. Age UK ambassador June Whitfield even surprised participants by making an appearance at the event in Westfield White City, while 1966 World cup heroes Geoff Hurst and George Cohen brushed up on their online skills at Wembley Stadium.

June Whitfield, ambassador for Age UK, said:

The EE National Techy Tea Party Day has been wonderful and it was great to see so many people getting to grips with modern technology. I know that mastering today's gadgets and the Internet isn't always plain sailing, but it's definitely worth trying. Since getting online I'm enjoying so many of the benefits it can offer, including keeping better connected with family and friends over email, FaceTime, and even enjoy challenging them to a game of Scrabble!
