Sky adds new features to its smart TV Guide

The latest update to Sky's Electronic Programme Guide, or EPG, adds a whole raft of new features for Sky+ customers to enjoy. For instance, users can now quickly find the shows they love with the help of the brand new recommendations engine. The engine provides suggestions of TV shows and movies the customer might enjoy, based on their recent recordings or downloads in their Sky+ Planner. For example, a customer who recently recorded The Following might find shows like Luther, Hannibal and Criminal Minds in their recommended list.

Sky has also updated its Series Link feature. Rather than just recording the next episode of your favourite shows, the newly named Smart Series Link will now remember to record the next season whenever it begins broadcasting.

Sports fans can look forward to a new Sports tile on the homepage, which offers quick access to all the live sporting events currently available on any channel you have access to. While Sky Movies customers will notice a brand new look in the Sky Movies On Demand and Sky Store home pages, with full DVD cover art prominently displayed for every film.

Luke Bradley-Jones, Sky's Director of TV products, said:

That's why we're introducing even more features to help discover more TV they really want to watch.  Get recommendations for shows we think you'll enjoy based on your recordings, and never miss a returning season ever again with Smart Series Link. It's all part of our commitment to make Sky+ the ultimate entertainment experience.

The update is rolling out to customers across the country, and will be available to 8 million customers with compatible Sky+HD boxes by winter this year. For the best chance of receiving the update, make sure your Sky+ box is connected to your home broadband.
