More and More properties across Wales can now access BT's
superfast broadband service. 55% of homes and businesses in the
area are now able to connect to the fibre network, offering
approximately 800,000 premises download speeds of over
The major urban areas have, for the most part, been
covered by BT's commercial rollout of the service. However, many
have benefitted from the ongoing Superfast Cymru programme, funded
by both the public and private sectors. By 2016, the Welsh
Government hopes this programme will aid in extending the reach of
the fibre network to 96% of Wales.
Bill Murphy, BT's Managing Director, said:
