TalkTalk is now offering a brand new router to customers signing
up to any one of its superfast fibre broadband packages. The
network has called the device it's "best ever router", providing
users with a connection three times faster than the previous
generation and pushing out Wi-Fi coverage even further around the
The new "Super Router" features the very latest Wi-Fi technology
(802.11ac Wi-Fi), making it one of just two routers from a major
ISP to benefit from the upgraded hardware. BT's Home Hub 5 was also
updated with the new technology late last year, however TalkTalk is
confident its device beats BT's, as well as Virgin Media's, Sky's
and EE's, when it comes to speed.
Along with its four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports and USB 2.0 port
for external storage and printers, the router also boasts 3x3 MIMO
dual band antennas. TalkTalk believes these will help focus the
Wi-Fi signal towards the device's that need it, as well as avoid
loss of connection due to conflicting signals in the area.
Just in case customers do run into any issues, the Super Router
also comes with an integrated Self-Help and diagnostic page which
can be accessed offline at any time. This feature is a first for
the company, and TalkTalk has promised to roll the page out to all
of its existing routers in the upcoming months.
