36% of British viewers watch TV content online

Ofcom, the UK communications regulator, has published the results of its recent research showing how British consumers are using their broadband connections to access films and TV shows online.

36% of UK internet users confirmed they watch online content every single week, much more than consumers in Germany, France, Spain and Italy.

The study also found customers are watching much of this content through their smart TV. In fact four out of five people with a smart TV were found to have connected their device to a broadband line, giving them access to catch-up TV services and on demand movies.

For those without a smart TV, small set top boxes, such as the dedicated NOW TV box, are giving customers new ways to view the same online content streamed directly to their HD TV.

At just £9.99 the NOW TV box makes a great stocking stuffer this year, with the option of signing up for a 30 day free trial of the Sky Movies Month Pass, which gives you access to over 800 movies for you to stream on demand to your TV, with up to 4 new premiers added every single week. There's also the option to purchase a Sky Entertainment Pass, or a daily Sky Sports Pass.
