The basic myTalkTalk plan costs £6.49 per month. It comes with free evening and weekend calls to UK landlines, plus free calls anytime to 36 popular international destinations, including Canada, Australia, France and the USA. It's great for staying in touch with friends and family who live overseas. You also get free 8Mb broadband with a generous 40GB usage allowance, perfect for people who download lots of music and movies. With that, you can download up to 55 feature-length films each month and not worry about exceeding the limit. TalkTalk will also send you a free wireless router, so you can go online in any room in the house.
For those who want more from their digital provider, TalkTalk now offers a choice of six ‘boosts' that you can use to upgrade your service. Our favourite is the Speed Boost. It increases the speed of your connection from 8Mb to the maximum that your phone line can handle. You can go as high as 24Mb, if you live in the right area.
If you are a heavy broadband user, you can use the Download Plus Boost to double the monthly usage allowance from 40GB to a massive 80GB. That enough for 1,800 albums.
If you're worried about viruses and trojans, the Online Security Boost gives you state-of-the-art protection using F-Secure software. It comes with parental controls, which are essential if you have small children using your PC. TalkTalk is currently offering a free 30-day F-Secure trial, so you have nothing to lose.
Do you make a lot of daytime calls? With the Anytime UK Calls Boost, you can call any UK landline number free of charge day or night. Or if you mostly call mobiles, the Half Price Calls to Mobiles Boost gives you exactly that – half price calls to UK mobiles.
The Calling Features Boost comes with call waiting, ringback, call diversion, event reminders and three-way calling.
Each of these boosts costs £4 a month. There are no extra contracts to sign, so you can cancel a boost at any time.
