Mobile broadband services have grown in popularity among consumers after newly released figures showed more than 121 million connections were in existence.
According to the European Interactive Advertising Association, consumers across the continent continued to sign up and use digital services.
It also found that on average people spent 6.4 hours per week using mobile broadband and only 4.8 hours reading a newspaper.
The 16-24 age group were the main driving force behind the trend which saw 71 million Europeans use mobile broadband each week.
Commenting on the report, Philip Bates, Senior Manager with Analysys Mason, said consumers were increasingly aware of the benefits mobile services could offer them.
He said: "Whether you look at it from the perspective of device sales or network usage, the growing importance of the mobile internet is indisputable.
"Dongles have been heavily promoted by European mobile operators as an alternative to fixed broadband and have sold in significant numbers."
