Good news comes to the residents of Jersey as its local telecoms
firm, JT Global, has decided to pen papers with
Netadmin Systems in order to deploy super speedy
FTTH broadband on the island (Channel Islands).
The aim is to rollout the services within three years to as many
as 42,000 households and
businesses in Jersey with speeds of 100Mbps or
more.
As a quick reminder, JT Global has recently changed its name
from Jersey Telecom - the business model stayed
the same though.
It's worth saying that Netadmin Systems has been with JT Global
ever since the launch of the scheme, however its responsibilities
included only looking after JT's network trials. Needless to say
that now the Swedish network expert has had its responsibilities
expanded to the telecoms company's entire project.
Other firms such as Cisco, Genexis as well as Dimension Data
have also pledged to help out with the project.
Dave Newbold, JT's Chief Operations and
Technology Officer, was quoted as saying:
"With the implementation of a full FTTH network planned, and
such an advanced network management system soon in place, Jersey is
one of the most innovative and commercially viable environments to
do business in the Western hemisphere."
