BT, could you please move your car-crash
cabinet, asked Ripley residents in a petition
which gathered as many as 60 signatures
already.
The Derbyshire-based town's residents claimed that the
positioning of BT's FTTC-capable cabinet was very off as it was
placed at the end street corner and could potentially cause
numerous car accidents.
Because FTTC cabinets are taller than their
predecessors, the lobbyists argued that this particular one was
blocking the view for the drivers. This could have a very tragic
ending one day.
Ripley and Heanor News reported one
of the residents of Ripley, Mark Pearson, as saying that the whole
situation was quite "dangerous":
"You used to be able to see between the telegraph pole and
the cabinet - now you just have to pull out and hope for the
best."
As a quick reminder, moving cabinets is a costly pleasure. It is
also a rather long process.
BT confirmed that it's going to think about it but did not
reveal any concrete decisions as yet.
