O2 apologises as things slowly go back to normal

You might have noticed that you couldn't make calls yesterday evening.

That's because O2's network suffered a massive outage - some customers reported having no voice or data services which meant they couldn't call, receive calls, use mobile broadband or write text messages.

Nevertheless, the good news is that O2 published the following statement saying that everything was running at optimum efficiency:

"We can confirm that our 2G network service has now been restored. Customers who were affected should now be able to make and receive calls.

"Our 3G service is starting to restore and customers should expect to see a gradual return of data services as the day progresses."

The mobile operator also suggested that customers switch their handsets on and off as it might help to get the services back quicker.

This happened due to a network system glitch, the provider confirmed and apologised.

It is also worth saying that not all customers were affected - while some were taking the Twittersphere voicing their complaints, others reported that their services were working smoothly and they could call, text and browse away.
