Good news comes to BT customers who also happen
to be huge football fans. Next August (2013) the
provider will start screening 38 of the best live
games from the Premier League a year for
the next three years.
Some footie fans will know that the total number of matches in the
Premier League is 154, with BT Vision choosing to show only the
best ones including the exciting opening game of the 13/14
season.
This means that consumers will now have more choice as to which
provider they prefer to take out their TV service with as BT also
confirmed its plans to launch a special
"football-focused" channel in the near
future.
Ian Livingston, chief executive of BT Vision,
said:
"We are pleased to have won these rights and to have secured
around half of the best games on offer each season. We look forward
to offering football fans real value and great quality using the
latest technology.
"BT is already investing £2.5billion in fibre broadband.
Securing Premier League rights fits naturally with this, as
consumers increasingly want to buy their broadband and
entertainment services from a single provider."
Full pricing will be revealed soon.
