Good news comes to Sky customers as the firm
has announced its partnership with zeebox to
integrate a very witty app to forever change our television viewing
and sharing experience.
At the moment, Sky TV is the only platform which has put zeebox
into its kit, including the popular Sky+ as well
as the multi award-winning Sky Go products.
Zeebox, which is available through the iPhone,
iPad as well as the Web, provides
'augmented' television viewing features, for instance connecting
with friends with similar shows in their favourites or exploring
more information about a certain programme.
It also gathers feed about your show of choice from leading
social media platforms such as Facebook or
Twitter using so-called "zeetags" to scan
the web for the latest news about your shows.
Zeebox will also be useful for those who wish to control the
Sky+ box on the go as a remote control.
Emma Lloyd, Sky's Director of Emerging
Products, said:
"The integration of zeebox's innovative technology will
enable us to make the companion device experience even richer and
more engaging.
"We know that millions of our customers have smartphones and
tablets and regularly use them to engage with Sky on mobile
devices, so it's a natural next step for us."
Ernesto Schmitt, zeebox's co-founder and CEO,
also said:
"Thanks to Sky's backing we now also have the resources and
expertise to set our sights firmly on international expansion
alongside further innovation here in the UK and Ireland."
