Have you been caught up in the Royal Wedding craze?
Then you might as well donate to charity, as Kate Middleton and
Prince William both were keen on the scheme to raise some charity
funds rather than receive pressies.
BT has now confirmed that it has been appointed to host the web
page for Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton's Charitable
Gift Fund.
Ian Livingston, BT Chief Executive, said:
"We're delighted to have the opportunity to help develop and
operate such an important service for the Royal Couple. We wish
Prince William and Catherine all the best and hope that they have a
wonderful day in April."
The telecommunications giant will also be in charge of payment
transaction technologies - these would be web, phone or
text-based.
Well-wishers can already start donating as the website is in
full operation and can be found here: www.royalweddingcharityfund.org
All supporters will be able to donate money via cyber Sterling,
Euros and US, Australian, Canadian and New Zealand Dollars.
Nick Booth, Chief Executive, The Foundation of Prince William
and Prince Harry, said:
"It has been great to have the support of BT on this
important initiative. The Charitable Gift Fund being launched by
Prince William and Miss Middleton could bring significant benefits
to a range of important causes and charities chosen by the
couple.
"The involvement of BT in hosting the new website for online
charitable gifts and facilitating the chance for people to make
gifts by phone and text as well, is key in the project's
success".
It has been said that BT has had a lot of experience in running
secure web services, which gave the company the status of a trusted
technology partner for various charities.
