According to a recent research conducted by TalkTalk,
15 million minutes will be spent talking to loved ones on the
phone.
Another impressive number is that customers could save £2.3m by
using TalkTalk's international calls package.
According to the company, the most popular country to call at
Christmas time is in fact Australia, followed closely by the States
and Canada and other European countries.
European countries included France, Spain and Portugal - as
these have a large number of British residents.
Ireland and Poland have also scored high in the list as these
two countries have a large immigrant population.
Tristia Clarke, commercial director at TalkTalk, said:
"Christmas is traditionally the peak time for international
calls - for some people it's one of the only times they catch up
with their friends and family around the world, while for others
it's a time to share family news and have an extended
gossip.
"That's why we've created an international calls boost for
£2.99 a month, allowing people to call 36 countries for as long as
they want for an incredibly low, flat price."
Also, according to the data, 53 per cent of people who took part
in the survey said they were most likely to call their
siblings.
Calling parents was not as popular though with only 18 per cent
getting in touch with them. 33 per cent said they intended to ring
their children and 35 per cent said they would call friends.
