BT's switch scrappage scheme

Got an outdated IP-based communications switch? Trade it for a 20 per cent discount on a new one.

BT has recently proposed a Switch Scrappage Scheme, which means that customers can exchange their old switches for a discount on newer more efficient systems.

Names such as Lake, Avaya, BCM or Mitel take part in the scheme which will run until the end of this year.

Resellers offer up to 20 per cent off on £5,000 sales, up to 15% on items worth £3,000 and up to 10% on sales worth £2,000 or more.

BT partner and distributor of broadband, data and voice communications services, DMSL is also supporting the scrappage programme.

According to DMSL, the scheme provides resellers with an opportunity to make customers aware of the advantages of IP telephony and unified communications.

DMSL said that it also gives customers "the peace of mind that BT will dispose of or recycle all phone equipment in a responsible manner and in accordance with the EC Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) directive".
