The target of a 'digital TV nation' is moving ever closer after it was revealed today that the STV region in Scotland is in the midst of their switchover.

The isolated region actually started the switchover in early May this year but not all analogue transmitters were turned over to the digital format.

Around 20 per cent of Britain has already been converted to a 'digital TV only area'; north-west England, Wales, the West Country and the Border region. The other regions in England and Wales, as well as in Scotland and Northern Ireland, will be switched over to the digital signal by the end of 2012.
