Residents of Aberdeen City and Shire will see the last of analogue TV channels today after the final stage of their switchover finishes at midnight tonight.

The Digital Switchover in the region will bring Freeview into 44,000 homes for the first time.

Paul Hughes, from Digital UK said today...

"So far the indicators are good and people are responding well to the advertising. Ninety eight per cent of people are aware of the switchover but today is the big switch when all analogue goes and it's only digital services from then on in," he said.

"There's been a good response already from people who are watching the Durris transmitter. Around 2000 people visited the roadshow in Aberdeen and we've had a number of calls to the call centre already and it seems people are looking for information on things like retuning. It's very simple but there's a learning curve there - we accept that and we're here to help anyone who needs a little more help."
