Football fans will be able to get access to Premier League match
highlights from Monday thanks to Yahoo!
The online giant has secured a three-year internet rights deal
to show five-minute video clips from each game.
Its 24 million users across the country will be able to watch
the best goals, saves and tactical debate online.
Users will also be able to share content via Facebook and
Twitter and the provider will also show previews of forthcoming
games.
Yahoo! will begin advertising the new service through a
multi-million pound marketing campaign, run in partnership with XFM
radio, with the slogan "Miss a game? We didn't".
Pre-roll advertising campaigns with clients including broadband,
home phone and digital TV provider BT,
Heineken, Sony Pictures and Adidas will fund the new content.
In April the provider signed up for the rights to offer Premier
League highlights to its internet users for three years. The deal
saw Yahoo! take the service away from broadband, home phone,
digital TV and mobile broadband provider Virgin Media.
From this season ESPN also started offering mobile highlights to
customers from £3.99 a month.
