A new service that will allow people to watch their favourite programmes on their phone or laptop while on the move is being launched by a digital TV provider, it has been revealed.
BroadcastNow revealed that Virgin Media will offer their subscribers a new service which will let them watch TV content in a new 'pause-and-resume' system.
According to the news website, Virgin Media is in talks with Seachange, a video on-demand provider, over the launch of the "next-generation technology".
Using the new system, an SMS or email would be sent to the subscriber's mobile phone or PC. The user can then log into their service and continue viewing what they have been watching on their set-top boxes.
Seachange's chief marketing officer Simon McGrath said Virgin Media, who recently confirmed it is adding Sky Sports HD1 and HD2 to its digital TV service from August 2, is keen to consider how it can use "next-generation technology".
