O2 Broadband is a key strategic element of O2's overall UK business as it looks to drive data revenues.

Indeed, as a result of the success of O2 Broadband and mobile broadband in the UK, data now accounts for 52% of O2's total revenues in the UK.

O2 offers two high quality broadband packages from £7.50 per month for the Broadband Standard package (for existing O2 mobile phone customers); through to a popular up to 20 Mbps super-fast Broadband Pro package for £10 per month (for existing customers).

The appeal of these broadband deals for new and existing customers is reflected in strong broadband acquisition numbers in the last three months of 2009. O2 Broadband added 63,000 broadband users over the period. This is just 1,000 short of the 64,000 broadband customers added in the same period by Virgin Media, the UK's largest fibre-optic broadband provider and the third largest overall broadband provider in the UK.

O2 reinforced its position as Britain's biggest mobile phone company as it added 338,500 new mobile phone customers over the same time period to reach 21.3 million customers (excluding Tesco Mobile) by the end of December 2009.

This gives the company far more scope to cross sell broadband and mobile broadband deals to their existing customer base.
