There is continued press speculation about the details of Sky's 3D TV channel launch later this year, which will be the first 3D TV channel to launch in the UK.

The 3D TV channel will be available to all those with a Sky+HD set top box and a 3D TV compatible digital TV set. The new 3DTV sets have gone on sale in the US, but are as yet not generally available in the UK.

Sky has been testing 3D TV broadcasts for some time from live FAPL broadcasts in 3D TV through to arts programming in 3D.

Viewers will however require polarized glasses to view the action in 3D, so speculation is rife as to whether Sky will give away the glasses for free, as they are not cheap and the family may need three of four pairs.

Reviews of the 3D TV experience have been generally very positive, with cynical journalists genuinely impressed by the difference in viewing experience in 3D.
