Over 16 million people - accessed the web via a broadband-enabled mobile phone in December according to new data from the GSMA Mobile Media Metrics.
The survey shows the huge increase in mobile broadband use via mobile phones, driven largely by social networking.
Indeed Facebook is the biggest 10 UK mobile internet sites, with 5 million unique users, relative to 4.5 million UVs for all of Google's sites.
And Facebook is also accounting for the lion's share of time spent online on mobile phones. Nearly 50% the total minutes online in December were spent at Facebook Mobile - 2.2bn minutes out of 4.8bn.
This is possible due to the huge growth in 3G broadband connected mobile phones, which now account for about 20% of all handsets.
Mobile broadband connected laptops are also growing very rapidly thanks to the wide range of mobile broadband packages available with a "dongle" and the popularity of free laptop and mobile broadband deals.
