Hundreds of residents in social housing may fall foul of the digital switchover because their landlords have failed to upgrade their signal, a survey has found.
Television viewers across the country may find their regular TV favourites replaced with static due to poor preparation on the part of their landlord after a survey conducted by Sky found that one in four social landlords had not yet addressed the problem of preparing their properties for the digital switchover.
Out of 600 landlords interviewed for the study, only 76% said they were preparing for the digital switchover change - a 10% drop on those getting ready in March 2009.
Pascal Wharton, head of Sky Homes, said: "Over 600 of the UK's largest social landlords responded to this survey as opposed to 400 at the beginning of 2009.
"It would appear that the additional landlords who took part this time are less prepared, and have brought the overall average down."
Digital switchover started in the Borders in 2008 and is progressing by TV region and is due to be completed in 2012.
