TalkTalk Group is the UK's largest broadband provider and has over 4 million broadband and home phone customers across the TalkTalk, AOL broadband and Tiscali brands.
It is currently under the umbrella of the Carphone Warehouse Group, but is being demerged next spring, so the hunt has been on for a new CEO for the broadband group.
And there is news today that TalkTalk has looked to Sainsbury's to fill the roll. Dido Harding, head of J Sainsbury's convenience stores division, will become CEO TalkTalk Group in time for the demerger.
Ms Harding previously worked at McKinsey and Tesco, so expect TalkTalk to continue an aggressive growth path post demerger, which can only be good news for broadband and home phone customers in the long term. As the broadband market intensifies, broadband speeds trend upwards and broadband prices trend downwards.
Indeed it will be interesting to see the competitive response from the other top broadband providers in 2010, which include BT, Virgin Media and relative newcomer Sky. Expect to see attractive broadband bundle deals in the new year.
