Doubtlessly, we've all heard about how great digital TV
and video on demand (VoD) is. Your
neighbour's got it, your friends love it - but you don't know what
it is exactly.
That's why Simplifydigital.com is here to explain what this new
craze is all about.
Let's start with Sky Anytime+. Imagine using
Sky Broadband as a path that leads to a treasure chest which is
jam-packed with tones of video content. Sky Anytime+ will connect
your Sky+HD boxes with archives full of content, which will give
you the opportunity to get thousands of hours of great movies and
shows to your TVs via yor Sky Broadband connection.
Thousands of homes with Sky+HD will have the
opportunity to connect to a library containing hours and hours of
your favourite shows and movies, including popular series
'box-sets' and up to 500 films. As well as Sky Movies, Sky Sports,
Sky Arts and Sky1, the service will launch with a wide range of
content from third party channels.
Customers with Sky Broadband will be able to
access subscription VoD content for no extra charge, in line with
their existing Sky subscriptions.
The great thing about Sky Anytime+ is that it works on a
progressive download basis - this means no waiting until the
content has fully downloaded. You'll just have to bear a minute or
so to fully enjoy your favourite shows, but sometimes this does
depend on the duration of the programme and your broadband
connection.
Sky Anytime+ doesn't do it for you? Try Virgin Media's
TV-on-demand - similar concept.
Virgin Media says this is an innovative way to watch TV as it
has "no start times and no schedule, you say what's on and
when".
You can catch up on a huge selection of shows from the last 7
days from the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and
Demand FIVE.
Also take advantage from Virgin's TV Choice on Demand, which is
packed with the best series from Channel 4, BBC, ITV, Warner Bros,
MTV, Living and Bravo. Watch them whenever you like - a whole
series back to back, or one episode at a time - many of these are
available in HD (high definition).
