Digital TV descramblers are widely used in digital satellite TV and digital cable TV. A digital TV descrambler allows access to scrambled digital TV channels.

Your digital TV provider will normally provide you with a viewing card to descramble digital TV channels that you have subscribed to. A Sky viewing card will descramble the scrambled or encrypted premium digital TV channels included with your Sky Digital viewing package.

These digital TV channels are scrambled to stop unauthorised access to viewers who have not paid to view the channels.
