What do the various technologies mean?

  • ADSL:The standard broadband technology using standard copper BT phone lines. Offers speeds of up to 2Mb.
  • ADSLMAX:Superior technology to standard ADSL, offering speeds of up to 8Mb. Again provided over standard BT phone lines.
  • LLU:Local loop unbundling. Many providers can install their own equipment in the BT exchanges, frequently allowing them to offer faster speeds and/or cheaper prices.
  • Cable:If available, Virgin Media can install a new fibre-optic cable to your property, allowing them to offer super-fast up to 20Mb broadband as well as digital TV and phone services.
